ROAD RACING

Runners gobbled up 4,000 bibs for the 22nd running of the TD Beach to Beacon 10K Road Race in 13 minutes, 30 seconds Thursday morning.

A lottery for the remaining 1,950 bibs will run until March 24, with winners announced March 26. There is a lottery fee of $5.

According to race organizers, the average time it took to complete the registration was 3 minutes, 25 seconds. Women (at 3:14) were faster than men (3:40) and registered in greater numbers (55 percent).

Toia Francis, a University of Southern Maine freshman from South Portland, was first to register, in 77 seconds.

The average age of the registrants is 40 and they come from Canada, Mexico, France and Italy as well as the United States. After Maine, the most popular states were Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Connecticut.

The race is scheduled for Aug. 3 in Cape Elizabeth.

BASKETBALL

G LEAGUE: The Los Angeles Clippers signed Maine Red Claws guard Justin Bibbs to 10-day contract. Bibbs, who has played in all 44 games for the Red Claws, is averaging 11.8 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists.

HOCKEY

ECHL: Forward Morgan Adams-Moisan was reassigned to the Maine Mariners after a 10-game stint with the Laval Rocket of the AHL. Adams-Moisan, who has 15 goals for the Mariners, had one goal in 10 games for the Rocket.

BNP PARIBAS OPEN: Milos Raonic beat Miomir Kecmanovic 6-3, 6-4 to reach the semifinals Indian Wells, California.

SKIING

WORLD CUP: Mikaela Shiffrin won the super-G title for her 10th career crystal globe, and Dominik Paris secured the men’s title by winning the season-ending race at Soldeu, Andorra.

Shiffrin finished fourth in the women’s race, which was won by Viktoria Rebensburg of Germany.

AUTO RACING

NASCAR: Janet Guthrie, the first woman to qualify and compete in both the Daytona 500 and the Indianapolis 500, was dropped from the latest list of nominees for NASCAR’s Landmark Award that honors contribution to the sport.

HORSE RACING

SANTA ANITA: A filly broke both front legs at the end of a workout on the main dirt track and was euthanized, becoming the 22nd horse to suffer catastrophic injuries since Dec. 26.
