AUGUSTA — Police said a suspect or suspects threatened the use of a weapon while robbing The Big Apple store on Stone Street early Friday morning.
The matter is still under investigation. The suspect or suspects took off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Around 12:10 a.m., police received a report of armed robbery, according to a Friday afternoon news release from Deputy Chief Kevin Lully.
“According the caller, unidentified suspect(s) entered the store, threatened the use of a weapon and demanded an undisclosed amount of money,” Lully said.
He said in the release that the suspect or suspects fled before police could arrive and has not been identified.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Police Department at 626-2370, ext. 3418. The release also encourages people to use the department’s free “Tip411, Augusta Maine Police” app to report anonymous tips.
The same store was robbed in March 2014, August 2015 and June 2016.
