WINTHROP — Cam Wood’s 18 points were more than enough on their own as the Winthrop boys basketball team rolled to a 62-15 win over Oak Hill in a Mountain Valley Conference game Tuesday night.
The Ramblers (10-1) amassed a 35-10 lead at halftime over Oak Hill (3-7). Wood coupled his 18 points with 12 rebounds and two blocks. Ryan Baird and Cam Hachey each added nine points for Withrop.
Oak Hill was led by four points from Liam Rodrigue.
HALL-DALE 84, MT. ABRAM 52: Alec Byron scored 21 points to lead the Bulldogs to an MVC win over the Roadrunners in Salem.
Ashtyn Abbott scored 17 points, while Josh Nadeau added 14 points for Hall-Dale (8-1).
Nathan Luce led Mt. Abram (3-7) with 17 points, while Adam Luce added 10 points.
MT. BLUE 55, SKOWHEGAN 51: Senior guard Garrett Reynolds drained a game-high 22 points to lead the Cougars to the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A win.
The Cougars (8-2) were leading by two with seconds remaining and Reynolds at the line. He made both foul shots. Sophomore guard Jacob Farnum contributed 18 points and four assists for Mt. Blue.
Senior forward Marcus Christopher notched a double-double with a team-leading 16 points and 13 rebounds for Skowhegan (4-7). Junior guard Carter Hunt recorded four field goals, including three from beyond the arc, for 11 points for Skowhegan in the losing effort.
BRUNSWICK 60, LAWRENCE 42: A big first half carried the Dragons to the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A win in Brunswick.
Brunswick (6-4) led 31-19 at the break, in part due to a 16-point night from Noah Cox, one of three Dragons finishing in double figures. Mitchell Finn and Sam Sharpe added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Kobe Nadeau led Lawrence (5-5) with 15 points. Adam Dupre chipped in with 10 for the Bulldogs.
RANGELEY 70, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 23: Hunter Parsons netted 13 points and Trevor Dolbier 11 for Rangeley (7-3) in a victory over the Lions (0-6) in South Portland.
Greater Portland Christian was led by 11 points from Christian Patterson.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
SKOWHEGAN 61, MT. BLUE 46: Skowhegan remained unbeaten on the season with the KVAC A win over the Cougars at home.
Lexi Mittelstadt’s 20-point, seven-rebound effort kept Mt. Blue in the game, but Skowhegan was simply too much.
HAMPDEN 50, GARDINER 48: The Tigers couldn’t keep up the momentum of a hot start and were nipped by the Broncos in a KVAC A showdown in Gardiner.
Bailey Donovan led all scorers for Hampden (10-1) with 19 points, while Alydia Bryant poured in 15 more for the Broncos.
Gardiner (7-4) led 16-8 after one quarter but was outscored 27-17 over the next 16 minutes. Bailey Poore led the Tigers with 17 points, and Jaycie Stevens chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds.
WINSLOW 54, OCEANSIDE 30: Silver Clukey scored a game-high 24 points, including 18 of those from beyond the 3-point arc, as the Black Raiders rolled to the KVAC B win in Winslow.
Weslee Littlefield added 10 points for Winslow (8-3), while Maeghan Bernard chipped in with five points and seven rebounds. The Raiders pulled away by outscoring the Mariners 13-2 in the the third quarter to extend a five-point halftime lead.
Raechel Joyce scored 15 points to lead Oceanside (3-8).
ERSKINE 35, CONY 29: Madison Lully’s 11-point night coupled with a strong defensive effort in the third quarter as the Eagles snagged the KVAC A win in South China.
Erskine (4-7) held Cony (0-11) to just three points in the third.
Julia Reny had 10 points for the Rams.
MARANACOOK 42, MOUNT VIEW 29: Anna Drillen had 18 points as the Black Bears pulled away in the second half for the KVAC B win in Readfield.
Gabrielle Green added six points and eight rebounds for Maranacook (7-4).
Hannah Coolen led Mount View (2-7) with 16 points.
BRUNSWICK 43, LAWRENCE 29: Megan Curtis scored 11 points, but it wasn’t enough for the Bulldogs, who fell to the Dragons in Fairfield.
Savannah Weston scored eight points, while Keagan Alley added seven points for Lawrence (6-4).
Rosalie White led Brunswick (10-1) with 13 points.
