WATERVILLE — A fourth-quarter rally gave the Waterville boys basketball team the victory it had been looking for all season.
David Barre scored 16 points and Nicholas Wildhaber added 15, leading the Purple Panthers to their first win of the season, 54-43, over John Bapst in a Class B North matchup.
Waterville (1-7) trailed 35-32 going into the fourth, but outscored the Crusaders 22-8 in the final period. Jack Lloyd added 13 points in the win.
John Bapst (3-6) got 13 points from Ethan Newcomb and nine from Jagger Cummings and Rhett McDonald.
MONMOUTH 65, RICHMOND 42: Connor Davies scored a game-high 22 points, and along with sharpshooting teammates Dylan Lajoie and Gabe Martin led the Mustangs to the Mountain Valley Conference victory in Richmond.
Lajoie (16 points) and Martin (15) hit four 3-pointers apiece to help pace Monmouth (5-3).
Calob Densmore had 12 points for the Bobcats (1-8), Nick Adams had nine and Kenny Bing scored eight.
SACOPEE VALLEY 60, RANGELEY 54: Kenneth Thompson scored 21 points, but it wasn’t enough for the Lakers, who fell to the Hawks in Hiram.
Nolan Boone added 18 points for Rangeley (5-3).
Michael Murphy led Sacopee Valley (2-5) with 30 points, while McGwire Sawyer added 11.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
WINSLOW 51, ORONO 24: Paige Trask scored 13 points and Weslee Littlefield added 12 points to lead the Black Raiders to a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B win over the Red Riots in Winslow.
Bodhi Littlefield scored eight points for Winslow (6-2).
Ellie Sockabasin led Orono (2-7) with 13 points.
