AUGUSTA — Maine-Wabanaki REACH and the Lithgow Public Library will host an interactive story-telling experience about events in the colonizing history of Wabanaki people — the Indigenous people of Maine — and Europeans and their descendants.

This event will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at the library at 45 Winthrop St., according to a news release from the library. The snowdate will be Jan. 18.

This is a free participatory program appropriate for adults and teens, with a goal to increase understanding of colonization.

This event is part of a six-month series of events featuring a variety of programs on the history of Maine.

In February, a concert with the Sandy River Ramblers is planned. They will play bluegrass music from and about Maine.

March will include a living history event about the French-Indian Wars, a presentation by Elizabeth DeWolfe, Ph.D. on The Great Turnout of 1841 and Maine’s textile workers on strike.
