Evo Kitchen + Bar in Portland’s Old Port is inviting the public to cheer on its executive chef, Matt Ginn, when he appears on an episode of “Chopped” Tuesday night to try to win $10,000.

Ginn’s episode, “Room for ‘Shrooms,” will air at 9 p.m. on the Food Network. The show will stream in the downstairs portion of the restaurant, which is holding a cocktail party with small bites and drink specials. Part-time Mainer Martha Stewart will be one of the celebrity judges critiquing Ginn’s food.

Ginn is one of several Maine chefs who have appeared on the show lately. Most recently, Zachary Pratt of Boba, a small southeast Asian restaurant in Lewiston, was on an episode that aired July 3. The last Maine chef to win the show was Christian Hayes of Dandelion Catering, who took home the $10,000 in March on an episode featuring pork.

Chef contestants on “Chopped” are given mystery baskets of ingredients to create an original dish for a panel of judges in a limited time. Each episode features an appetizer, an entree and a dessert. The chef whose dish isn’t up to the judges’ standards gets “chopped” from the competition after each round, until the chef left standing wins $10,000.
