Chloe Maxmin took the win in a race to be the Democratic nominee for House of Representatives District 88.
Maxmin, 25, of Nobleboro, received 730 votes, defeating Alan Plummer, 51, of Chelsea, who received 184 votes, according to unofficial results.
District 88 includes Chelsea, Jefferson, Whitefield and part of Nobleboro.
Maxmin will square off next against Michael Lemelin, of Chelsea, the only Republican who has declared as a candidate for the District 88 spot. The seat was held previously by Republican Deb Sanderson, who is stepping down because she has reached the term limit.
Maxmin, a Harvard graduate who works as a grass-roots organizer, said she has been involved in politics since she was 12.
