The Downeast School of Massage on Moose Meadow Lane in Waldoboro will host its annual free Student Children’s and Young Adult Massage Clinic from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at the school.
The clinic is an opportunity for children and their parents to become familiar with massage in a secure, supervised setting, while students practice their skills with this special population. Nancy Dail, director of the Downeast School of Massage, said in a news release, “We do not realize how many structural and postural problems children have as a result of carrying back packs, studying long hours, technology, sports and ordinary growing pains. Regular stress and anxiety play a role in the child’s life as well as the adult.”
The school seeks to play an active role in relieving stress and relaxing common muscular discomfort in our adults of tomorrow. The school offers a Maine State Licensed massage therapy program with more than 600 hours of training in anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, nutrition, pathology and related subjects. Each student must complete more than 300 hours of therapeutic massage including specialized clinics as well as additional outside logged hours, case histories and core curriculum.
