A new Winthrop Farmers Market will open from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, May 31, in the old Paris Farmer’s parking lot on Summer Street. Farmers and vendors from Winthrop, Wayne, Monmouth, Sabattus and Leeds will take part in the market, which will continue through the summer and early fall.
The list of local farmers and vendors includes Cranberry Rock Farm, Stevens Farm and Greenhouse, From the Country Farm, Jillson’s Farm, Snafu Acres, White Berry Farm, Grey Goose Gourmet and Pickle’s Potions.
A new logo and sign was created, with the help of the Winthrop Lakes Region Chamber and Winthrop High School students and teachers. Art student Gia Francis drew and designed the logo: a whimsical face of a brown and white cow.
Woodworking teacher Todd MacArthur and several of his students cut and etched the sign. The students included Trent Wood, Shane Settle, Nate Woodard, Kena Souza, Jacob Sousa, Hanna Caprara and Jillian Taylor.
The sign will be posted on the corner of Summer Street and Route 133, where the market will be located.
