Voters in Regional School Unit 38, the Maranacook Area Schools, have approved a $17.9 million budget for the upcoming school year unanimously.
The written ballot vote was 44-0 at the districtwide meeting Wednesday night.
The budget now heads for a validation vote June 12 at the polls in all four towns in the district: Manchester, Mount Vernon, Readfield and Wayne.
The meeting itself took 45 minutes, according to a district employee.
RSu 38’s budget proposal calls for an additional high school social studies teacher in order to meet the state standards, two new special education education technician III posts, and 1.6 special education school nurse positions. One new high school education technician II post that had been proposed was eliminated during the budget process, according to Williams.
School officials recently hired James “Jay” Charette as the new superintendent of the district, which has a total of 1,179 students.
