Side by Side: new work by Cassie Jones and Will Sears, an exhibition celebrating the work of two contemporary Maine artists, will be featured through May 19 at Common Street Arts, 93 Main St. in Waterville.
This exhibition will feature work by two contemporary Maine artists, each with a distinct and compelling approach to color and form.
Jones’ work explores her interest in the natural world leaving the viewer to ponder the complexities of nature as part of the visual experience.
Sears’ assemblages are inspired by his interests with graffiti, sculpture and his work as a sign painter. Sears’ recent work involves sawing his own hand-painted, pre-weathered wooden signs into pieces and reassembling into abstract patterns–taking the viewer on a unique graphic journey through the 20th and 21st centuries.
Each week has different programs and activities taking place in the gallery designed to encourage creative expression and exploration.
The Common Street Arts gallery is open from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
