After a three-year wait, the Maine Lobster Shack has opened at 425 Fore St. in Portland.

The fast-casual seafood restaurant, located next to Gelato Fiasco in the Old Port, has been in the works since 2015, when it applied for its first permit from the city. Since then, the space it’s in – a former women’s clothing store – has gone through extensive renovations. The 38-seat restaurant is owned by Michael Michalski of Yarmouth and Portola Valley, Calif.

This summer, outdoor seating will be available on the restaurant’s private patio.

The Maine Lobster Shack menu includes chowder, lobster rolls, oysters, mussels and a variety of fried seafood. The restaurant’s hours are 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
