INDUSTRY — Voters will go to the polls from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Town Hall to elect a selectman and a Regional School Unit 9 board of directors member.

Town Meeting will reconvene at 2 p.m. for all other business.

Second Selectman Rob Geisser didn’t return nomination papers but said he would take the position if he wins as a write-in.

Selectmen Lee Ireland and Dovey Balsam said Jesse Sillanpaa attended a selectmen’s meeting to gauge the board’s support, should he seek the school board position. They think he would accept the position, but attempts to verify that were unsuccessful.

The total proposed budget for 2018 is $456,944, which is $47,495 more than last year.

Voters will be asked to appropriate $100,000 for paving town roads, an increase of $70,000 over last year’s figure. They also will be asked to borrow $400,000 for paving, with the first of four payments due in 2019.
