LOWELL, Mass. — Blanca Millan had 18 of her game-high 22 in the first half Wednesday as the University of Maine women’s basketball team won its fifth straight, 69-51 over UMass-Lowell.
Parise Rossingnol scored all of her 11 points in the third quarter for Maine (14-8, 7-2 America East).
Kayla Gibbs led UMass-Lowell with 15 points (3-19, 0-9).
(3) BAYLOR 77, (23) OKLAHOMA STATE 64: Lauren Cox scored 23 points and had nine rebounds as the host Lady Bears (20-1, 10-0 Big 12) topped the Cowgirls (15-6, 6-4).
MEN’S BASKETBALL
MASS-LOWELL 88, MAINE 64: Jahad Thomas had 19 points to lead six players in double figures for the River Hawks (9-13, 3-6 America East), who used a 16-4 run in the span of 4:30 early in the first half to grab control and easily beat the Black Bears (5-19, 2-7) at Bangor.
Aaron Calixte led UMaine with 20 points, and Andrew Fleming added 12.
Maine played without Ilker Er, who was unavailable due to a foot injury.
(2) VIRGINIA 74, LOUISVILLE 64: Kyle Guy scored 22 points and the host Cavaliers (21-1, 10-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) held off the hot-shooting Cardinals (16-6, 6-3) to win their 13th straight.
Ty Jerome added 16 points and Devon Hall 12 for the Cavaliers. Virginia’s start is its best in ACC play since the 1980-81 team won its first 12 games.
Ray Spalding scored 16 points for the Cardinals.
(5) MICHIGAN STATE 76, PENN STATE 68: Miles Bridges had 23 points and nine rebounds, helping the Spartans (21-3, 9-2 Big Ten) come back from a double-digit deficit to beat the visiting Nittany Lions (15-9, 5-6).
The Spartans rallied to win after trailing by 12 with 15:23 left after coming back from 13-point deficit to win their previous game at Maryland.
Cassius Winston made a go-ahead layup midway through the second half and Michigan State led by as much as 15.
(8) CINCINNATI 80, HOUSTON 70: Jacob Evans III scored 18 points, hitting the pivotal shots during a rally from an 18-point deficit, as the Bearcats (20-2, 9-0 American Athletic) extended the nation’s longest home-court winning streak to 38 by beating the Cougars (16-5, 6-3).
IOWA STATE 93, (15) WEST VIRGINIA 77: Donovan Jackson scored 25 points and the host Cyclones (12-9, 3-6 Big 12) upset the Mountaineers (16-6, 5-4).
Cameron Lard scored 18 points for the Cyclones, who took advantage of the absence of West Virginia’s Daxter Miles Jr. (illness).
(18) TENNESSEE 84, LSU 61: James Daniel III scored 17 points off the bench to continue his recent surge as the host Vols (16-5, 6-3 SEC) trounced the Tigers (12-9, 3-6) for their fourth consecutive victory.
With nine games remaining in the regular season, Tennessee already has matched its 2016-17 win total. Tennessee went 16-16 last year and failed to earn an NCAA tournament or NIT bid for a third straight season.
