A collision of a Fayette town plow truck and a commercial dump truck early Tuesday sent the dump truck into a cattail marsh across the road.

Fayette Town Manager Mark Robinson said the town truck was plowing the lot at the Fayette Central School on Route 17 before 6 a.m. Tuesday when the Scott Bowen dump truck clipped the plow.

At that time, the temperature was in the teens and light snow had been falling.

“There was minor damage to our vehicle,” Robinson said, “and significant damage to the other vehicle.”

The damage estimate for the town truck is still in progress, he said.

Kennebec County Sheriff Ken Mason responded to the accident, he said. Mason couldn’t be reached Thursday for additional comment.
