WATERVILLE — The public will have a chance Monday to ask questions and make recommendations on the presentation of a draft master plan for the future of Quarry Road Recreation Area.

The public workshop will be held at 5 p.m. in the Waterville Opera House.

The presentation, to include a draft site plan unveiling, will include findings from previous public meetings and surveys. The public is encouraged to provide feedback to help shape the plan.

“The master plan will articulate a unified, multi-season vision for the future of Quarry Road trails,” a news release from Friends of Quarry Road says. “It will explore opportunities to increase usage in all seasons, re-establish the alpine skiing operation and construct physical infrastructure that would enable the area to host large events while maintaining the area’s natural feel, affordability and easy accessibility.”

Friends of Quarry Road is a 501(c)3, nonprofit organization seeking to sustain a tradition of four-season, outdoor recreation in central Maine, enabling people from all walks of life to afford and enjoy the benefits of physical activity on trails that are beautiful and accessible, according to the release.

Friends of Quarry Road officials work with the city to develop trails in the area by providing guidance, raising funds and assisting in operations, upkeep and oversight.
