A man was flown by helicopter to a Bangor hospital Saturday morning after losing control of his truck and crashing into a bridge abutment in northern Somerset County, police said.
David McLaughlin, 41, of Lebanon, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet 2500 pickup on 490 Road in Russell Pond Township, which is about 40 miles north of Rockwood, when he lost control of the vehicle, according to a news release Tuesday from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.
McLaughlin lost control of his truck about 10:50 a.m. and struck a bridge abutment, completely pushing in the front fender.
McLaughlin suffered head injuries and was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. He was released later.
A Somerset County deputy, Charles A. Dean Memorial Hospital Ambulance, the Maine Warden Service and Pelletier Logging responded to the scene. Rockwood Fire and Rescue also assisted.
