WILTON — The town is advertising for a new superintendent and chief operator for the wastewater treatment and water plants.
“Justin Futia is no longer working here,” Town Manager Rhonda Irish said. “His last day was on Sept. 12.”
Irish would not say more about his departure.
In the meantime, Irish has asked Mark Holt, superintendent of the Jay Sewer Department, to assist with the laboratory work for the plants until a superintendent is hired. Jay selectmen are expected to discuss the request when they meet Monday.
Workers in the departments are continuing with the day-to-day work, Irish said.
Futia was named superintendent of the water and wastewater plants in December 2015 when Clayton Putnam retired from the position.
Futia has overseen a $10 million wastewater treatment plant reconstruction that is nearly complete.
The personnel change will not affect the reconstruction project, Irish said.
The position has been advertised with Maine Rural Water, the Maine Municipal Association and another wastewater association, she said. The ad will be placed in local newspapers.
Applications will be accepted until Oct. 5, Irish said.
