Nomination papers are available for anyone interested in running for office in the Nov. 7 Fairfield municipal election.

A total of four seats are available for several different bodies. One seat is available for a three-year term on the Town Council. Two seats are available for 2 1/2 year terms on the School Administrative District board of directors. And one seat is available for a three-year term on the Kennebec Water District.

The Town Council seat is currently held by Jeffrey Neubauer, who was appointed to the seat after then-Chairman Robert Sezak resigned his seat, since he had become a Somerset County commissioner. The SAD 49 seats are currently held by Chairwoman Shelley Rudnicki and Sherry Tompkins. School Board seats were originally for three-year terms, but these will be for 2 1/2 due to a change in the Town Charter which shifts School Board elections to June. The Water District seat is held by Mark McCluskey.

To qualify for the ballot, candidates must get at least 25 signatures, but no more than 100. The deadline for returning nomination papers is 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22.

Nomination papers are available at the town clerk’s office at the municipal building on 19 Lawrence Ave.
