Two Farmington residents were arrested Tuesday in connection with a burglary reported earlier this month in Phillips, where several electronics and drug-related items were stolen, according to a news release from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

Brandy Pease, 21, and Shawn Burnell, 26, both were charged with burglary, a class B felony.

The sheriff’s office received a complaint on July 11 from a person on Dodge Road in Phillips that a television, a laptop computer, a sound system, video games and marijuana paraphernalia — altogether more than $1,000 worth of goods — were stolen from a home, according to Lt. Dave St. Laurent.

The house was left unlocked and wasn’t damaged during the burglary, he said.

The two suspects were acquaintances of the homeowner, knew what was in the home but didn’t have permission to be there, St. Laurent said.

Once they got the lead, the police questioned Pease and Burnell on Tuesday at the Farmington Police Department. After the interview, the two were arrested and taken to the Franklin County jail.

Neither had previous burglary convictions, but Burnell has an “extensive criminal history,” St. Laurent said.

They were interviewed again after they were arrested, and that time police learned where they had put the stolen items.

Most were recovered, according to the release, except for the drug paraphernalia.

Farmington police assisted in the recovery, as the items had been left in Farmington.
