AUBURN — The Lawrence softball team scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings, then held off No. 2 Edward Little to pull off a 2-0 upset victory in a Class A North quarterfinal Wednesday afternoon.
Lilly Herrin pitched the complete game for No. 10 Lawrence (10-8), striking out seven and not allowing a walk.
She also had a triple and two singles for the Bulldogs, who will play at No. 3 Oxford Hills in the semifinals.
“It was a really, really good game,” Lawrence coach Joey Marcoux said. “This was a really old school KVAC game.”
Edward Little dropped to 12-5.
GIRLS LACROSSE
YARMOUTH 20, WINSLOW 2: Meredith Lane scored five goals and Margaret Elder added three as top-seeded Yarmouth rolled to the B North quarterfinal victory.
Silver Clukey and Savannah Joler each scored for the Black Raiders (7-7) while keeper Carrie Selwood had 10 saves.
OCEANSIDE 14, CONY 5: Jillian Brooks scored five goals and added two assists as the third-seeded Mariners took the B North regional quarterfinal.
Emily Tyler added four goals for Oceanside (11-2), which will play No. 2 Morse in the semifinals.
Sarah Caron scored a pair of goals for sixth-seeded Cony (6-7), which got 15 saves from Kat Biasuz.
