Victor Grange 49 recently honored members in two award ceremonies.
In honor of Grange Month, members chose to posthumously give a Patrons of Husbandry Flag and Gravemarker to family members of some of its most dedicated members. Their contribution to Victor Grange at the local, state and national levels was significant and instrumental to a well-run community organization.
Being the first year of this award, Grange members felt it appropriate to acknowledge members who had belonged to the Grange the longest.
The following members accepted the awards: Burleigh Crockett, 71 years; Madeline Hill, 73 years; Coleman MacKay, 73 years; Constance “Babe” MacKay, 60 years; Muriel Tupper, 81 years; Robert Tupper, 80 years; Douglas Taylor, 78 years; and Clifton Wood, 70 years.
The second ceremony was a complete surprise to the recipients, Roger Shorty and Don “Rick” Duperry, longtime Grange members, received the 16th Community Service Award given for their service to the Grange and its community.
