Maine State Police conducting a bail check Saturday night allegedly discovered a meth lab at 40 North Horseback Road in Burnham.

During the bail check on 29-year-old Amber Nayock, who lives there, state trooper Seth Allen discovered an active meth lab inside the mobile home and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency meth lab team was called in, according to a news release Monday from Steve McCausland, a state police spokesman.

Nayock was arrested and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, a felony, according to McCausland. She was taken to Waldo County jail.

In a separate case on Thursday, the Howland Fire Department responded to 2 Westside Lane after receiving a report of smoke and a strange odor coming from apartment D1.

Firefighters suspected a meth lab and contacted the Penobscot Sheriff’s Office. The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency’s meth lab team was also called and found the makings of a lab inside, McCausland said.

Arrested was 52-year-old Kelly L. Moore who lived in the apartment. She was charged with Class A aggravated operation of a meth lab. The charge was aggravated because the apartment was in a multi-unit building. Moore was taken to the Penobscot County Jail.
