A Benton man was charged Thursday with possession of child pornography after federal and state officers searched his home.
The Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit charged Joseph Hood, 30, after investigators, including the FBI, searched the home at 21 Pleasant Dr. Thursday morning.
Hood was charged with possession of sexually explicit materials and was taken to Kennebec County Jail. An initial search of Hood’s computer showed thousands of images of child porn.
Bail was set at $750 cash. Hood is forbidden from contact with anyone under the age of 16 and prohibited for using computers or data storage devices.
Officials are continuing to examine his computer files.
