AUGUSTA — A 19-year-old woman accused of beating her father with a stick of firewood and a fire poker in an alcohol-fueled rage was ordered held in lieu of $25,000 bail on Wednesday.

Briana L. Rideout, 19, of Whitefield, was seen via video by a judge at the Capital Judicial Center on charges of aggravated assault and violating conditions of release.

Rideout was arrested Tuesday after Kennebec County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeffrey Boudreau responded to a report of a badly beaten man being treated at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta.

Interviews there and in Randolph, where the alleged attack occurred, indicated that Rideout had been drinking prior to going to her father’s Randolph home. There the two drank some more in the basement before arguing over money.

The woman allegedly starting hitting her father with a poker and then with a piece of wood, according to an affidavit Boudreau filed at the court. The father escaped after another family member intervened and forced the woman to leave.

Boudreau’s report said the father had two fractures in his skull, bruises on his arms, a large cut over one eye and bruises on his chest.

Deputies reported finding a large piece of firewood with a chunk missing, a poker and blood on the floor of the basement in front of a couch.

Rideout was found and arrested at her home in Whitefield by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and then transferred to Kennebec County.

Rideout had been free on bail conditions on a charge of criminal mischief from August 2016.
