AUGUSTA — The Maine Principals’ Association postponed the Class AA girls quarterfinal games Wednesday and tweaked the slate over the next few days.
The Class AA North girls games scheduled Wednesday at the Augusta Civic Center were pushed to Thursday.
The Cheverus-Bangor game will start Thursday at 4 p.m. followed by Deering-Lewiston at 5:30 p.m. The AA North boys games scheduled Thursday at the Civic Center on Thursday had their starting times adjusted.
The Cheverus-Oxford Hills game will now start at 7 p.m., followed by the Deering-Windham quarterfinal at 8:30 p.m.
Dick Durost, executive director of the MPA, said they were fortunate to have some leeway in the early days of the tournament schedule.
“It’s difficult to reschedule everywhere, but in Augusta in particular because we have four classes there,” he said. “We would have liked to have played (Wednesday) but feel we have a good plan in place.”
Furthermore, the Class D South schedules were adjusted on Saturday and Monday.
The Temple girls will now play at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday and the Vinalhaven boys will play at 1 p.m., with both games at the Augusta Civic Center.
The new schedule allows the Vinalhaven boys and girls to play on the same day.
The Forest Hills boys will now play at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, instead of Saturday.
Several preliminary round games were also rescheduled.
They are:
C South boys
No. 12 Dirigo at No. 5 Hall-Dale: Thursday, 5 p.m.
A North Boys
No. 10 Erskine at No. 7 Cony: Thursday, 6 p.m.
