A man was arrested Wednesday on a charge of failure to pay fines after the minivan he was driving south on Maine Avenue in Farmingdale crossed the centerline and struck another minivan head-on, according to Deputy Jeremy York, of the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office.
The man, 36-year-old Glen Douglas Moulton, had a Florida driver’s license but was staying in the Augusta area at the time of the accident, York said.
In addition to being arrested for allegedly failing to pay fines, Moulton also was issued a summons on a charge of operating while his license was suspended or revoked.
The accident happened when a 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan driven by Moulton crossed the centerline and struck a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan driven by Linda J. Greeley, of Farmingdale, in the northbound lane. Greeley’s age was unavailable.
After the crash, which occurred near Sheldon Street, traffic was stopped on Maine Avenue for about 40 minutes. Three people involved in the accident required medical attention for treatment of minor injuries.
Both Moulton and a woman in the passenger seat next to him, Sheena Stone, 29, of Augusta, were taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center complaining of chest pain, York said. They were looking after a 4-year-old child who was in a car seat in the back seat and was not injured, York said.
Greeley was also taken to the hospital because of chest pain, according to York.
Neither speed nor weather was a factor in the accident, York said.
