Portland police believe a 38-year-old man jumped to his death from a window in his fourth-floor apartment at the Burnham Arms Apartments Wednesday morning.
The state Medical Examiner’s Officer will determine the cause and manner of the man’s death, Portland Police Department spokesman Lt. Robert Martin said.
“He was a resident of the building and we believe he jumped from a 4th-floor window in his apartment,” Martin said in an email. “There is nothing suspicious.”
The man’s identity wasn’t being released pending notification of his relatives, Martin said Wednesday night.
The incident took place just before 7 a.m. at the apartments located at 633 Congress Street, near its intersection with Park Street. Burnham Arms is a six-story brick building within a short walk of the State Theater and Congress Square.
The man was alive when first responders arrived, but died at Maine Medical Center a short time later, police said.
