SIDNEY — A woman was taken to the hospital with a head wound after her car crashed into a flatbed truck Tuesday morning and she became trapped in the car, police said.
William Gemelli, 52, of Jay, was making a left turn around 8:40 a.m. in a Hammond Lumber delivery truck from Pond Road onto Milkweed Lane when the crash happened, according to a news release from Maine State Police.
Kristen Gay, 21, of Oakland, was driving a 2012 Kia above the posted speed limit, according to the news release. Gay was driving behind Gemelli and hit the truck when he slowed to turn.
Gay lost control of her car and became trapped in the car, the release said. Extrication tools were used to get her out of the driver’s seat. She was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta with a head laceration and possible neck injury.
Gemelli and his passenger were not injured in the crash. He was wearing a seat belt, and Gay was not, according to the release.
The Sidney and Oakland fire departments went to the accident scene, as did Delta Ambulance.
