The theme to our weather this weekend is dry and chilly.  Think of early December, the first month of winter as a mirror image to June, the first month of summer.  Now you might ask what I mean by that and I will say the two months are basically opposites.  In June our light reaches the maximum for the year, this month we hit a minimum.  In June we usually experience our first true summer weather similar to December bringing the first tastes of winter.

This weekend will be typical for the first weekend of the 12th month. We could see bitter cold and snow this time of year, but this time it’s just high pressure and some average temperatures.  There will be some cloudiness from time to time, but sunshine wins out. Any clouds we do see will be minor and just add to the scenic beauty of early winter.

Temperatures this weekend will be seasonable on Saturday, but a bit below average on Sunday although not significantly so.

Across the mountains Saturday I can’t rule out some snow in the air, but you’ll be skiing on more man-made over natural snow.

Another weak weather system Sunday night and Monday might bring a snow flurry or sprinkle.

If you are heading to Gillette Stadium to watch the Patriots you can expect temperatures within a degree or two of 40 along with sunshine. Bundle up well – especially if you are sitting in the shade during the game.

Next week brings more chilly air to start and perhaps some storminess for the middle or end of the week.  The forecast is very unsure for that period, but currently I don’t see any significant snow or prolonged cold. Have a nice weekend.
