Messalonskee High School has announced its November Students of the Month: Cooper Doucette, freshmen; Caitlynne Scamman, Junior; and Jared Thorne, senior.
These students were chosen for their academic improvement/excellence and their contribution to the Messalonskee school community, according to a news release from the high school. The students were nominated by MHS faculty members and chosen by the school’s Culture Committee and Leadership Team.
When Messalonskee senior Jared Thorne comes to class, he makes sure he has his assignments completed and that he understands the fundamentals concepts being taught. Such traits have made him a successful student and a role model for classmates and much the same could be said of his fellow November Student of the Month recipients recognized Thursday by Principal Paula Callan.
Freshman Cooper Doucette and junior Caitlynne Scamman also possess qualities that make them role models for peers. Callan postponed announcing the sophomore Student of the Month until December because the student’s parent(s) could not attend Thursday’s ceremony.
Cooper is known as an exceptionally polite student who treats teachers and classmates alike with respect and kindness. He also is an active and eager member of his school community as he showed in taking a big role in both spirit week and the recent food drive.
Scamman, the junior winner, is a student who never gives up. If she struggles with an assignment, she stays positive, seeks help to improve her understanding, and doesn’t hesitate to redo the work. She is an enthusiastic participant in school theater productions as well and has gained a reputation for bringing gusto to her roles.
In addition to the Messalonskee SOM recipients, Callan used Thursday to recognize the following four Messalonskee students who won student of the month honors at Mid-Maine Technical Center: Ally Stevens (emergency services), Delsin Klein (precision machining), Michael Viens (culinary arts), and Cameron Bickford (automotive technology).
