SKOWHEGAN — The driver of a Jeep Grand Cherokee that struck a tree and rolled over on Waterville Road Sunday morning was listed Monday evening in fair condition at a Bangor hospital.
The driver, Aric Libby, 25, was in the Jeep when police arrived and suffered from slight head trauma and possible internal injuries, according to police.
Libby’s passenger, Aja Lemieux, 26, was ejected from the Jeep and was taken by Lifeflight of Maine helicopter to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor with lower leg injuries and potential internal injuries.
An EMMC spokeswoman said Libby was listed in fair condition but that there was no information available on Lemieux’s condition.
Libby, who was operating with a suspended driver’s license, was taken by Redington-Fairview ambulance to EMMC. The Jeep was destroyed in the crash, police said.
Skowhegan Police Chief Don Bolduc said there was no new information on the crash to release Monday afternoon. Bolduc said police will have more on possible charges against Libby once he is released from the hospital, and that police also are waiting for blood test results.
Police believe the Jeep went off the road on the right while traveling north to Skowhegan, according to a press release Sunday from the Skowhegan Police Department.
