A New York man allegedly involved in a shoot-out in the parking lot at Wal-Mart in Augusta was indicted recently on unrelated drug charges.
Reginald McBride, 45, of Harlem, New York, was indicted on three counts of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs.
The indictment alleges he trafficked in cocaine March 1 in Augusta, in heroin April 6 in Augusta, and in cocaine base April 29 in Gardiner.
An indictment is not a determination of guilt, but it indicates there is enough evidence to proceed with formal charges and a trial.
McBride, for whom 12 different aliases are listed on the indictment, was also indicted last month on unrelated charges of attempted murder, aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, reckless conduct with a firearm, and four counts of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. Those indictments stem from a June 26 shooting and fight a judge described as “like an old Western shoot-out in the Wal-Mart parking lot.”
Police said McBride and Frankie Dejesus, 27, of Augusta, fired guns at each other during a dispute about money in the parking lot of the Augusta Wal-Mart, though no one was struck by a bullet during the altercation.
The altercation ended when armed bystanders intervened.
Also indicted by the grand jury in Kennebec County recently were three people arrested on drug trafficking charges in Winthrop following an investigation by state and local police.
Tyrone Lindsay, 20, of Waterbury, Connecticut, Michelle St. Laurent, 28, of Winthrop, and Daniel Ackerly, 30, of Winthrop, were arrested in July after an undercover agent bought heroin and investigators found 76 grams of heroin and about $2,400 in cash at a Mount Pisgah Road home in Winthrop, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency said in a news release.
Lindsay was indicted on one count of Class A aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs, and one count of Class B unlawful trafficking in scheduled W drugs, both for heroin July 8 in Winthrop.
St. Laurent was indicted on identical charges to Lindsay.
Ackerly was indicted on two counts of unlawful trafficking in schedule W drugs, heroin, one on June 30 and the other July 7, both in Winthrop.
