Petrovich received the award as the only yeoman serving 600 personnel with the Carrier Air Wing Three (CVW-3) embarked on the ship.

Petrovic enlisted in the Navy in Aug. 15, 2013, and is being screened for the Chief of Naval Operations Staff in Washington, D.C. He is the son of Robert and Jacquelyn Petrovic, of Winslow.
