HARRISBURG, Pa. — For the second straight game, the Portland Sea Dogs lost to the Harrisburg Senators with a bases-loaded walk in the ninth inning.
On Thursday, Portland’s Simon Mercedes allowed three straight walks in the bottom of the ninth to give Harrisburg a 5-4 win at FNB Field. On Wednesday night, Luis Ysla gave up three straight walks in the ninth inning to give Harrisburg a 2-1 win.
The Senators improved to 24-21 and the Sea Dogs fell to 16-30.
Portland pitchers allowed six hits on Thursday, but also gave up nine walks, including five by starter Ty Buttrey, who allowed four runs in 42/3 innings. Adrian Sanchez had a double for Harrisburg’s only extra-base hit.
Ryan Court had two triples, a home run and three RBI for Portland.
The Sea Dogs open a seven-game homestand at 6 p.m. Friday against the Hartford Yard Goats.
