BANGOR — Kirsten Pelletier struck out nine in a complete-game, two-hit shutout to lead the Messalonskee softball team to a 3-1 win over Bangor in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A game Wednesday afternoon.

Katie Guarino had a pair of singles for the Eagles (14-0-1), while Sarah Labbe added a double and an RBI in the win.

Emily Gilmore homered for Bangor (10-5).

WINSLOW 14, WATERVILLE 3: Paige Trask tripled and the Black Raiders plated six runs in the third inning en route to the KVAC B win in Waterville.

Nat Greene, Liz Pullen and Paige Veilleux each had two hits for Winslow (13-1).

Madison Clowes had a doulbe and a single for the Purple Panthers (1-13).

NOKOMIS 12, MCI 0, 5 innings: Audrey Davis had four singles and scored four runs as the Warriors won the KVAC B contest in Newport.

Libby Dunivan picked up her 11th win of the season in the circle, aiding her own cause with a double and four RBIs for Nokomis (11-3). Brittany Dubar, Maci Leali and Austin Leighton each chipped in with multiple-hit games in the victory.

Eva Bickford had both of the hits for MCI (2-13).

SKOWHEGAN 11, LAWRENCE 8: Skowhegan rallied for six runs in the top of the seventh inning to earn the KVAC A win in Fairfield.

Sydney Reed and Maliea Kelso each hit a double and a triple for Skowhegan (9-6). Eliza Bedard had four hits for the Indians. Sydney Ames and Ashley Alward also had two hits for Skowhegan.

Sarah Chace and Hunter Mercier each had three hits for Lawrence (4-11).

GREENVILLE 6, VALLEY 5: Sierra Bussell hit a two-run walkoff double in the bottom of the seventh to lift the 12-1 Lakers to the Class D win in Greenville.

Kendra Sweet drove in two runs for Valley (1-11). Alexis Davis added two hits and an RBI.

MADISON 13, OAK HILL 0, 5 innings: The host Bulldogs pounded out 11 hits on their way to the shutout. Madison improves to 15-0 while Oak Hill falls to 13-2.

BOYS LACROSSE

WINSLOW 14, MORSE 9: David Selwood and Hunter McCaslin each scored four times to lead the Black Raiders to the KVAC B win in Winslow.

Jimmy Fowler had three goals and an assist for Winslow (6-4). Bryce Hillier scored twice and assisted on two other scores, while Jake Houghton added a goal and four assists.

Spencer Knowles and Declan Hall each scored three goals for Morse (2-9).

BASEBALL

NOKOMIS 14, MCI 5: The Warriors pounded 17 hits to earn the KVAC B win in Newport.

Josh Smestad had four hits, including a double, for Nokomis (7-7). Josh Perry had three hits, including a triple, and earned the win. Colby Pinette also had three hits, with a double, for the Warriors.

Greg Vigue doubled and tripled for MCI (1-14).

MOUNT VIEW 4, BELFAST 2: Mount View rallied for three runs in the fifth inning to defeat Belfast in a KVAC Class B nail-biter in Thorndike.

Storm Chauvin’s two-run single gave the Mustangs a 3-2 lead and Cole Hannan followed with an insurance RBI single. That was more than enough for starting and winning pitcher Mikey Hustus, who went the distance and allowed four hits and a walk while striking out seven.

LAWRENCE 3, SKOWHEGAN 2: The Bulldogs scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the KVAC A win in Fairfield.

With one out, JT Nutting and Derek Bowen singled. After a fly ball out, Nutting and Bowen each scored on an error to tie the game. After a Brandon Hill single, Josh Dow scored when Hill intentionally got in a rundown.

Nutting had three hits for Lawrence (9-6) and earned the win. Hill had two hits for the Bulldogs.

Adam Turcotte doubled and singled for Skowhegan (8-7).

COLLEGE

HAMMOND ADVANCES IN NCAA SINGLES TOURNEY

Belgrade’s Sadie Hammond came back from two games down in the third set to advance to the second round of the NCAA Tennis Singles Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Hammond, a freshman at the University of Tennessee, defeated 51st-ranked Ayan Broomfield of Clemson, 6-2, 5-7, 7-5. Trailing 3-1 in the third set, Hammond won five games in a row and ultimately picked up her eighth victory against a ranked opponent this season. Her second-round match will be against sixth-ranked Luisa Stefani of Pepperdine on Thursday.
