The body of a Rockwood fisherman missing since Thursday was discovered by game wardens in Brassua Lake, the Maine Warden Service said Saturday.

Game wardens pull a canoe ashore with Mike Jones, who spent the night in a remote camp on Grand Lake Seboeis.

Richard Weymouth, 80, was reported missing by his family Friday afternoon. He had not been heard from since setting out to go fishing Thursday. Four game wardens and a warden service aircraft responded.

Weymouth’s vehicle was located near the South Branch Brassua Stream, off Demo Road, the warden service said, and some of his fishing gear also was found.

Game Warden Will Shuman discovered the body while searching the lake in a motorboat. It was taken to the state medical examiner’s office for examination and positive identification.

The warden service said it was assisted by the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department and a Maine Army National Guard helicopter.

Also Saturday, the warden service said wardens helped find an overdue fisherman who was lost on Snowshoe Lake in northern Penobscot County.

Wardens searched and found fisherman Mike Jones, 61, of Yarmouth, who was fishing with friends Friday along a brook between Snowshoe Lake and Grand Lake Seboeis but didn’t return at the end of the day.

The warden service said game wardens searched the area during heavy rainfall until 2:30 a.m. Saturday and resumed the search at 5:30. Jones was found by wardens at 7 a.m. at a remote campsite on Grand Lake Seboeis. He was wet but unhurt, the warden service said.

In another incident, the warden service said that Game Warden Kris MacCabe and his dog located a woman – Betsy Mace, 59, of Detroit – who became lost Friday evening while she and her brother were walking property lines on land for sale in the Piscataquis County town of Wellington.
