AUGUSTA — The State of Maine Sportsman’s Show returns to the Augusta Civic Center for its 36th year Friday through Sunday.
The show opens at 1 p.m. on Friday and continues through Sunday afternoon. On Saturday and Sunday, doors will open at 9 a.m. It continues until 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and until 4 p.m. on Sunday.
The seminar schedule kicks off at 2 p.m. Friday and continues hourly throughout the weekend. Speakers will cover a broad range of topics from turkey, moose, grouse and deer hunting to adaptive fishing for disabled anglers. Also on the docket is how to become a Maine Guide, train hunting dogs, use game cameras and start a youth shooting program.
Contests include kids’ turkey calling, outdoor, fish and wildlife photography and art and the 2016 Miss Maine Sportsman competition.
The Civic Center floor will be filled with displays from taxidermists, outfitters, guides, sporting goods, boats and ATV merchants, as well as a kids trout pond and free fly tying lessons.
