WATERVILLE — Parishioners on Thursday night attended a traditional washing of the feet ceremony at St. Joseph’s Maronite Church.

The Rev. Larry Jensen performed the Holy Thursday ceremony as part of the Easter Week.

Many Christians practice the rite, which re-enacts the account of Jesus washing the feet of his disciples on the evening before his death.

In Augusta, a Stations of the Cross service was held at St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church. The 14 stations are a series of pictures or tableaux depicting scenes in the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
