Police have arrested two brothers in connection with distributing heroin in Farmington.
Jacob Gage, 30, and Anthony “T.J.” Gage, 26, were arrested after police saw Jacob Gage involved in a heroin transaction Wednesday on Barlen Street, according to a news release issued by the department on Friday.
The two brothers were charged with trafficking heroin, a class B felony, according to the department.
In an interview Friday, Farmington police Chief Jack Peck said the brothers were working together in a “street-level” operation and were dealing in quantities worth less than $100.
The police had not been watching the brothers long, Peck added.
“We were familiar with them. We had information about them. We started an investigation and witnessed a drug transaction with Jacob Gage,” he said.
“They’re not kilo dealers. They are selling usable amounts of heroin,” he said.
Peck could not say whether the Gage brothers had criminal histories.
The department is not investigating the case further and does not expect additional arrests, he said.
Class B crimes are felonies that carry a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
