A former Canaan man was sentenced in federal court Monday to serve 80 months in prison to be followed by three years of supervised release for conspiring to possess with intent to distribute cocaine and oxycodone.

Frank Curtis, 35, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge John A. Woodcock Jr., according to a release from United States Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II.

According to court records, between January 2010 and March 2012, Curtis conspired with Maurice McCray, William Waters and others in Waterville and surrounding communities, the release said.

Curtis, McCray and Waters would obtain the drugs from out-of-state sources, have them transported to central Maine and then distribute the drugs. Curtis is the 22nd person to be convicted and sentenced in connection with the federal investigation into drug distribution in the Waterville area.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency with assistance from the Waterville Police Department.
