OAKLAND — Police broke up an underage drinking party Saturday night, issuing more than 40 court summons to people at the party.

Police went to Old Waterville Road Saturday night at approximately 11:30 p.m. to investigate the roughly 30 motor vehicles that were parked “all over the road,” said Captain Rick Stubbert on Sunday.

Stubbert did not have the full details of the incident, but said that the officers’ investigation of the parked cars led them to a party that had at least 100 people at it. Officers issued 40 minors summons for underage drinking. Four adult women over 21 years of age who live at the house were given summons for furnishing alcohol to minors, Stubbert said. He was not able to provide the names of those charged.

Stubbert didn’t have an age range of the people who were charged, but said only one is believed to be a Messalonskee High School student. “Ninety-nine percent of them were Thomas (College) kids,” Stubbert said.

One 19-year old was charged with obstructing government administration, refusing to submit to arrest or detention and possession of alcohol after he jumped out of a window in an attempt to evade the police, Stubbert said.

Officers Luke Klinker, Mike Sayers, David Groder and Sgt. David Savage responded to the party, he said.
