Somehow, I must have missed the news story about Jamie Roux being arrested for speaking out at a 9/11 remembrance in Freeport on Sept. 11. Apparently, Jamie spoke out against the militant takeover of an event that should have remembered victims of 9/11/01 in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania. Jamie’s father was one of those murdered when hijacked United Airlines Flight 175 crashed into the south tower of the World Trade Center.
Because Jamie voiced displeasure about the militant takeover of the ceremony, he was silenced and arrested. So much for the military saving our freedoms.
It’s a good thing the newspaper published Jamie’s first-person story in the Sept. 22 “Maine Compass.” Were it not for that, I never would have heard about a grave injustice.
In conclusion: When you say, “The world is out to get me,” you are called paranoid. When you collectively say, “The world is out to get us,” you are called patriotic.
