A Lesson in Hawks, 10 a.m. Sept. 22, in York

Late September is the time to be looking for migrating hawks, and a hawk identification lesson will be offered by York County Audubon in collaboration with the Mount Agamenticus Conservation Region. The lesson will be in the Learning Lodge at the summit of Mount Agamenticus, just off Mountain Road. The workshop is from 10 a.m. to noon, and then the group will move outside to identify passing hawks. The workshop leader is Katrina Felton, a biologist and naturalist who has worked as a counter for raptor migration projects in Maine and New Hampshire. Registration is required, along with a $10 fee. Register at yorkcountyaudubon.org.

Surf casting class, 1:30 p.m. Oct. 3, in Cape Elizabeth
