HALLOWELL — The Harlow Gallery’s Education Committee hosts Second Sundays, a monthly series of free community art-making events sponsored by The Bank of Maine.
September’s event, “Gelatin Prints,” will be lead by Lisa Wheeler from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, at Harlow Gallery, 160 Water St. Gelatin printing is a versatile, experimental hand-printing process. Artists of all ages can create a collection of colorful monoprints layering colors, textures and images, according to a news release from the gallery.
Wheeler is the education program coordinator at Common Street Arts in Waterville. A graphic designer and printmaker, she has exhibited monoprints in solo and group shows throughout central Maine and has original pieces in collections at the University of Maine at Augusta and MaineGeneral’s new regional hospital.
Children younger than 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
These sessions, set for 2-4 p.m. the second Sunday of each month at Harlow Gallery, are free and open to the public. Some materials are provided, but participants are encouraged to bring their own as well.
Donations and sponsors to support gallery programs like Second Sundays are welcome. Those who have an idea for a future Second Sunday event, email kvaa@harlowgallery.org.
