Maranacook senior Cam Brochu is one of eight finalists for the Dr. John Winkin “Mr. Baseball” Award announced on Saturday.

The award, given annually to the top high school senior baseball player the state, will be presented June 26 at the Maine Senior Maine Senior Class A/B All-Star Game.

Brochu, a power-hitting third baseman, was selected as the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B Inland Division Player of the Year. The Black Bears are the No. 5 seed in the Western Class C playoffs and hosted No. 8 St. Dominic in the regional semifinals Saturday.

Brochu will attend Southern Maine Community College in the fall.

The other finalists are Zach Quintal of Marshwood, Henry Curran of South Portland, Will Bryant of Greely, Kyle Bourget of Lisbon, John Parker of Brunswick, Eric Hoogterp of Old Town, and Gage Feeney of Washington Academy.

The Maine Senior Class A/B All-Star Game will be played at 6:30 at Husson University. The C/D All-Star Game will also take place at 3 p.m.
