Waterville Walks, 5:30 p.m. June 4

Waterville Walks is a volunteer-supported, community walking program designed to get people of all ages moving and gaining better health. There will be a kickoff event at 5:30 p.m. June 4 at Quarry Road Recreation Area. Free pedometers for the first 30 people. Civil War Re-enactment, June 26-27 in Augusta

The Viles Arboretum in Augusta will host a Civil War re-enactment. The events start June 26 with a parade beginning at Old Fort Western in Augusta and following Arsenal Street to the Arboretum.

Each day will present both Confederate and Union encampment life with various demonstrations, from bread baking to musket firing. Dozens of re-enactors will be on hand in period uniforms and clothing to answer questions. To learn more, call 626-7989 or go to www.vilesarboretum.org.

Fields Pond Paddle, 6:30 p.m. in Holden

Join the naturalists at Fields Pond Audubon Center for an evening paddle. Loons, eagles and herons are likely encounters. Bring your own canoe or kayak or rent one for $5. The trip leaves from the Fields Pond Audubon Center. Cost is $5. Call 989-2591 to register.

Tails on Trails, 10 a.m. in Boothbay

Join the Boothbay Region Land Trust and enjoy a hike with your pup along with other dog owners at the Saunders Preserve. Meet at the kiosk at the intersection of Pleasant Cove Road and Back Narrows Road. From the traffic light in Boothbay Harbor, travel east on Route 96. Turn left on Back Narrows Road and travel north to the stop sign. Saunders Preserve is straight ahead. Well-behaved dogs are welcome and must be leashed.
