Winslow’s Clark honored
Harrison T. Clark, a senior at Winslow High School, has been selected to receive the 2015 Principal’s Award. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic excellence, outstanding school citizenship and leadership, according to a news release from Principal Chad Bell.
Harrison is the son of Lynn and Vaughn Clark, of Winslow. During high school, Harrison participated in soccer, swim and baseball. Harrison also is a member of the National Honor Society and the Outing Club. He is helping to organize the NHS Blood Drive. Harrison was a delegate to Boys’ State and was selected by his art teacher to attend the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts on Deer Isle. Outside of high school, Harrison enjoys hunting, fishing and woodworking. Following graduation, Harrison plans to attend Maine Maritime Academy and pursue an engineering degree.
Harrison, Bell and other award winners and their principals will attend an honors luncheon Saturday, April 11, at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor.
The honors luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of 10 $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler. McGowan and Tyler were former Maine principals and executive directors of the association.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
