NORWICH, VT — Gardiner graduate Jenn Day scored eight goals and teammate Brittany Premo had seven goals and an assist as the Thomas College women’s lacrosse team rebounded from its first loss of the season with a 23-6 rout of Johnson State College on Tuesday.
The Terriers (4-1, 3-1 North Atlantic Conference) — who led 14-4 at the half — also got two goals each from Mayson Picard and Samantha Greenlaw. Kylie Aither and Nichole Weeks each had a pair of goals for Johnson St. (2-3, 1-2 NAC).
HUSSON 19, UM-FARMINGTON 7: Mattie Russell and Alyssa Fallon each scored five goals to lift the Eagles at Boucher Field in Bangor.
Lawrence graduate Jess Poulin had 11 saves for Husson (3-3, 2-1 NAC).
Ayla Allen had three goals for UMF (0-5, 0-2 NAC), while Messalonskee graduates Mara Balboni and Maddi Kadnar each scored once.
BASEBALL
THOMAS 7-3, CASTLETON 3-4: The Terriers and Spartans each took turns with some last inning heroics to split a doubleheader in Auburndale, Fla. Thomas (4-8, 2-2 NAC) plated five runs in the top of the seventh and final inning to claim the opener, while Castleton (9-5, 2-2 NAC) won in walk-off fashion with a run in the bottom of the 10th inning.
Anree Benitez and Ryder Kenney each had doubles in the opener, while Christopher Esquivel belted a triple and Lawrence grad Isiah Fleming earned the win on the mound. Derek Kane had a triple for the Terriers in the second game.
MEN’S LACROSSE
SOUTHERN MAINE 9, MAINE MARITIME 7: Gardiner graduate Keegan Smith had a goal and five assists as the Huskies prevailed at Ritchie Field in Castine.
Seth Wing, another former Tiger, had a pair of goals for USM (4-2, 0-1 Little East Conference), Messalonskee grad Nate DelGiudice had a goal and an assist and Maranacook grad Zach Bessette finished with eight saves.
Nicholas Betti had a game-high four goals for Maine Maritime (3-6, 3-0 NAC) to bring his career total to 141, a new program record. Farmington’s A.J. Larrabee also had a goal for the Mariners.
JOHNSON ST. 5, THOMAS 3: The Badgers outscored the Terriers 4-0 over the course of the second and third quarters to secure a win in Norwich, Vt.
Andrew Neddo had a pair of goals for Johnston St. (2-4, 1-2 NAC) in the win, while Jay Palmisano finished with 10 saves.
Connor Lamberton made 22 saves for Thomas (0-7, 0-4 NAC), while Bryan Ferris, Colby Blondin and Parker Chute each scored goals.
HUSSON 22, UM-FARMINGTON 2: The Eagles held the Beavers scoreless through the first three quarters to earn a win in Bangor. Winthrop graduate Zack Glazier scored four goals and assisted on two others for Husson (4-3, 3-0 NAC).
Tom McGowan and Cameron McAllister had the two goals for UMF (0-7, 0-2 NAC).
COLBY 18, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 9: Derek Youngman, Austin Sayre and John Grimaldi led a balanced scoring attack with three goals each as the Mules downed the Nor’Easters in Biddeford.
Tyler Will made four saves to pick up the win in net for Colby (6-3, 2-3 New England Small College Athletic Conference) and Austin Frank led the team in ground balls with seven.
Shamus Higginbottom and Tom Luttrell each had two goals for UNE (4-6, 0-2 Commonwealth Coast Conference).
