Forest Hills Elementary School in Jackman recently honored Dr. Seuss’s birthday by inviting friends and family members to read with students.

Theodor Geisel, who wrote as Dr. Seuss, was born March 2, 1904.

The event was part of Read Across America Day, a nationwide reading celebration that takes place annually. Students also participated in classroom-based literacy activities, read Dr. Seuss books and learned about writer-cartoonist Geisel. As part of lunch, students were served Cat in the Hat fruit kabobs and Blue Goo from the book “Fox in Socks.”

The fun continued all week as students were encouraged to dress up each day: mixed up outfits on Monday, hats for Top Hat Tuesday, wacky socks on Wednesday, favorite book character for Theodor Thursday, and something green for Funny Food Friday.
